Representative IT Projects
Fort Greely Enterprise
Geographic Information System (GIS)—Fort Greely, AK
KAYA collected and created all GIS data for Fort Greely, including converting
200 hardcopy maps into vector data and creating 50 different data layers from
those maps. We created customized ArcIMS Interactive web maps using the GIS
data, allowing users to easily create and print detailed, user-definable maps. A
web portal was created for the entire installation to use as a central
repository for scheduling, task tracking, document sharing, and floor plans.
U.S. Army Kwajalein Atoll
(USAKA) Integrated Real Property Management Solution (IRPMS)
KAYA developed the IRPMS for use by the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense
Command at U.S. Army Kwajalein Atoll. The IRPMS is a GIS-enabled solution for
the management of real property assets, which helps manage environmental
conservation, land use planning, and resource development. The GIS system is
based on an ESRI geodatabase and is accessible with a standard web browser.
Network Services for Air Force
Logistics Management Agency (AFLMA)—Maxwell Air Force Base, Montgomery, AL
KAYA handles network services for t AFLMA at Maxwell Air Force Base. Our
services include management of communication security equipment and accounts;
system administration and operating system support for file, print, and common
user application servers; and server farms/banks. We provide connection to
external networks including NIPRNET, SIPRNET Defense Switched Network, Public
Switched Telephone Network, and Army intranets. We also handle help desk support
services for problems concerning IT systems, software and hardware problems,
password violations, and telecommunications issues and work orders.
GIS Solutions
GIS is often acquired by diverse departments within an organization, which
frequently rely on a mix of software and information systems. As a result,
sharing data and applications across the enterprise is frequently impossible.
The resulting redundancy prevents organizations from realizing business goals,
leveraging investment in data and technology, and controlling costs.
KAYA’s Enterprise Management Solution (EMS) application relies on a shared
central geodatabase that allows integration and dynamic updating of multiple GIS
data sources without time-consuming compatibility and translation issues. Our
technique is based on industry IT standards and web services to enable non-GIS
applications and systems to easily access GIS functionality and allow GIS
applications the functionality of mainstream business applications and IT
systems. With an enterprise GIS, users of spatial data spend more time on the
analytical capabilities and business functions of a GIS, and less time searching
for, compiling, and integrating the data they require.
Combined with our Facilities Operations Management module, Enterprise GIS
provides a means for planners to evaluate facility-wide and building-specific
space-planning needs, assessing needs for long range programs and development.
Interactive Web Mapping
KAYA provides customized visualization systems through interactive web maps
utilizing ArcIMS technology to our customers. This technology allows our
customers to perform on-the-fly spatial analysis with tools such as queries,
buffers, and distance measurement. With the ArcIMS technology, our clients can
easily print their hardcopy results whether it be map, tabular data, or both.
KAYA is currently applying this technology by developing interactive mapping
services to perform spatial analyses for siting, testing, and deployment of
missile system programs; through developing web-based systems that assist in
environmental impact assessment through GIS mapping technology; in developing
web-based systems to manage and monitor installation upgrade activities related
to the deployment of missile systems; and by providing Concept Development and
Electronic Master Planning that incorporates live GIS mapping data, facility
data, and cost tracking systems.
Network Design and Administration
KAYA is fully capable of handling all aspects of network design and
administration. From assessing needs and implementing real-world solutions to
help desk and video teleconference support, we support the full life-cycle of a
network.
We offer web system design and development, network design and development, and
user training. We also handle network support services, including Help Desk
Technician services; performing mail messaging/collaborating (e-mail/DMS)
services, desktop/software support services, and video teleconference (VTC)
services; diagnosing and resolving problems in response to customer reported
incidents; researching, evaluating, and providing feedback on problematic trends
and patterns in customer support requirements; developing and maintaining
problem tracking and resolution databases; installing, configuring,
troubleshooting, and maintaining hardware and software to ensure the rigorous
application of information security/information assurance policies, principles,
and practices in the delivery of customer support services.
KAYA develops, coordinates, and assists in the installation, configuration,
utilization, and operation of IT equipment as either stand-alone equipment or
connected to a network.
Enterprise Management
KAYA’s Enterprise Management Solution (EMS) web application integrates
multi-format, multi-source Real Property Management, Facilities Operations
Management, Environmental Management, Document Management, and Master Planning
information. The EMS enables seamless access to and management of legacy data,
systems, and applications providing for enterprise-wide, user-friendly solutions
to complex information management needs.
The EMS has been successfully implemented at a number of federal facilities,
exceeding customer expectations in its depth of capabilities, open architecture,
low user cost, and reliance on commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) software, as well
as its ability to integrate with existing data formats and legacy systems.
EMS was initially developed to respond to the Army’s need to manage remote
facilities such as Wake Island from a central engineering and environmental
command in Huntsville, Alabama. Volumes of environmental data, base maps,
infrastructure features, and satellite imagery are now organized and integrated
into multi-use relational databases, providing an unprecedented level of
user-friendly and robust visual databases and a common data set to share across
multi-functional departments.
EMS has since evolved into a comprehensive facility management system geared
towards consistent and efficient use of common data, and high returns on system
investment for both single and multiple facility needs
The system utilizes an n-tier architecture consisting of Microsoft, ESRI, MySQL,
PHP, and other third party components to provide a versatile system for the end
user. The website is secured by SSL. Interactive maps provided by ArcIMS
accessing ArcSDE/SQL back-end allows users to have real-time mapping and
information relate to a particular feature. Users can query things like building
occupants, square footage, condition, location, building measurements, view
satellite images, and print maps to a plotter. Other features include a list of
contacts, documents, floor plans, photo gallery, calendar, and a project/work
order tracking and management system. The system produces Gantt charts, color
codes, and categorizes items it is tracking. Users can export and save map data
as .pdf, jpeg, and other image file types, allowing the information to be viewed
on any number of systems and platforms.
